Auckland War Memorial Museum is seeking to appoint an Assistant Librarian – Serials. This is a fulltime, permanent position for someone who is focused and organised, and with a strong interest in helping both Museum staff and the public with their information needs.

The Museum Library holds one of the major New Zealand historical research collections. Besides extensive collections of manuscripts, publications and photographs, there are about 9000 serials titles of which about 500 are current and acquired by purchase, gift and exchange.

This is a fulltime, permanent position for someone who is focused and organised, and with a strong interest in helping both Museum staff and the public with their information needs. Besides the day to day operation of serials management there is a great scope for improving the management of the older serial and newspaper titles.

Teamwork, excellent oral and written communication, research and interpersonal skills, initiative and self-motivation are competencies of the position.

You will have a relevant tertiary qualification. While a library qualification would be useful, it is not essential. Library experience, however, is required.
