Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) delivers public health services on behalf of the three district health boards in the Auckland region. ARPHS is a fully integrated public health unit delivering promotion, protection and screening programmes designed to improve the health and well-being of the populations of the Auckland region.
As Communications Manager you have the somewhat rare opportunity to apply your full range of communications skills from overall communication strategy development, including programmes and projects, public health materials production, relationship management with stakeholders and communities, including web based channels and public/media relations. The Communications Manager will be collaborating closely with the Senior Management Team and departmental specialists, including medical staff, ensuring that communications systems, tools and protocols, within emergency and response work, are developed, assessed and tested.
This is not a role for the fainthearted and requires a passionate and committed professional to work in a challenging but highly rewarding area.
We envisage the successful candidate will possess:
• A bachelors degree in Communications or Journalism/Broadcasting or Public Health
• Willingness to travel and ability to work flexible hours - including participation in the on call roster
• 5-10 years of work experience as Communications Manager or Communications specialist (preferably with NZ experience)
• Exceptional writing, interpersonal and relationship management skills
• Minimum of five years knowledge of the media and community organisations in New Zealand.
