Senior Tutor in Fashion Design
Massey University's fashion programme has an outstanding reputation, producing many of New Zealand's leading designers. A Senior Tutor in Fashion Design is sought who can teach in undergraduate programmes and support research.
You will be required to teach in fashion design studio and provide specialist teaching in one or more of the following subjects: Fashion design computer aided techniques, exhibition, professional practice, and research.
You should have a Masters Degree and demonstrated teaching experience and professional practice. You will co-ordinate with other disciplines in the degree and undertake administrative duties as required.
The position reports to the programme leader of Fashion Design and works both individually and collaboratively within the Institute, College and wider University.
Candidates are asked to include with their application a brief portfolio of their creative work/research submitted as a PDF file that can be printed out in hardcopy for the assessment panel to review.
This is a 18.5-hour per week position covering the academic year (41 weeks from: approximately 2nd week of February, to 3rd week of November).
You will deliver and administer courses in Fashion Design, for the Bachelor of Design programme.
You will provide support for senior academic staff and undertake administrative duties as required. In addition you will participate in Institute, College and wider University activities.
Teaching
1. Undertake undergraduate teaching as required by the Programme Director.
2. Support academic colleagues engaged in the supervision of the research activities of graduate and undergraduate students.
3. Undertake continuing personal professional development.
Service to the Community
1. Participate in community service activities that further advance the profession or field and which are consistent with the University and College's Strategic Plans.
2. Assist the Institute to develop an environment which gives effect to the obligations of the Treaty of Waitangi.
University Responsibilities
1. Serve on University and/or Department/Institute/College committees.
2. Ensure the observance of University policy and codes of practice in all teaching, community service and administrative practices.
3. Complete administrative duties required of the position.
4. Contribute to the development of an Institute working environment of teamwork and cooperation.
Any other duties as required by the Head of Institute.
