The Tertiary Dance Festival Aotearoa Trust seeks an Event Coordinator/Production Assistant extraordinaire!  The position is to start IMMEDIATELY from Tuesday 8 June and will finish on Tuesday 6 July. This will be a temporary, full-time, 40hrs per week position, plus additional hours where and as required.

The Tertiary Dance Festival surfaces biennially for a celebratory festival of contemporary and other dance genres and is taking place from 30 June - 3 July 2010.  The Festival offers an intensive, cross-genre programme of practical master classes, workshops, open classes, forums and a varied performance programme. The event is being hosted at various locations at the University of Otago Campus, Dunedin for the first time since 1995. There will be approximately 8 studios running concurrently over the 4-day festival, a performance programme in 2 theatre venues and other special events. The Festival has a planning committee and will have a team of approximately 20 volunteer crew.

The ideal candidate will assist the Project Manager to organise and deliver a successfully run event. 

Desired Skills and Qualities:

  • Demonstrate prior experience in organising events, performing arts productions and/or festivals.
  • Demonstrate strong administrative and computer skills.
  • Demonstrate initiative, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be flexible and have excellent attention to detail.  
  • Brilliant communication and people skills and have an insurmountable sense of humour!
  • Well organised, efficient and be able to think on your feet in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
  • Ability to remain calm, courteous and professional in stressful situations.
