The Waikato Rugby Union, one of New Zealand’s leading provincial rugby unions, is seeking a self-motivated, well-networked media person to be part of our team during a crucial 18 month period.
We have a vacancy for a Media and Public Relations Executive with the main focus being the upcoming Waikato ITM Cup campaign, but will also include media and PR execution for all areas of the Waikato Rugby Union.
The successful applicant will be the main contact for all media inquiries, be responsible for all media activity related to Waikato rugby games, as well as actively be involved in WRU promotions and events.
In addition, this fixed term role (July 2010 until December 2011), will be required to be the Waikato Rugby Union’s internal Project Manager accountable for implementing and co-ordinating various requirements associated with Hamilton-based 2011 Rugby World Cup matches.
As Project Manager, you must have a “can do” attitude:
- be thoroughly organised and pro-active.
- be able to trouble-shoot and problem solve.
- have great networking skills.
- the ability to build relationships, and have a good understanding of general rugby operations.
