REQUIREMENTS/AUTHORITIES:

Experience & Education: High standard of communication and people skills; with demonstrated commitment to good customer service.
Special skills: Ability to work as part of a team under pressure; ability to perform a variety of tasks in a timely manner; commitment to meeting community needs; ability to handle the physical requirements of the job.
Relationships: Council Staff, particularly library staff, Citizens of Waitakere City and library users.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide the best possible library and information service to the public in an efficient and courteous manner by shelving and tidying library materials and/or referring to Team Leader or librarian any matters relating to the researching and accessing of information.
Present the library branch well in order to enable users and staff alike to locate material easily.

Contribute to the operations of the library and support the servicing of customers by working as a
member of the team, carrying out a variety of tasks such as; shelving, shelf tidying and cleaning of
materials.
Attend training sessions as required.
Contribute to the team effort by: adopting healthy and safe work practices; understanding and
practicing harassment prevention; learning the basics of other tasks so that coverage may be maintained across the Section and Council; contributing as required to Council’s Civil Defence effort; contributing as required to multi-disciplinary working parties and committees.
Deliver quality customer service as part of a team dedicated to excellence in service; achieve performance standards specified; and educate, inform and advise citizens and customers on the practical application of the vision of a sustainable city on a day to day basis.
