CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
Are you an Auckland based arts practitioner working with a group[s] in your local community? Are you interested in participating in 2 two-day seminars during November 2010 and February 2011?
In a first for New Zealand, this Community Cultural Development Programme (led by Auckland City Council in partnership with VCA, Melbourne) is to support and profile the work of artists working across diverse communities.
About Connections
This seminar programme positions community cultural development as a community based arts practice with a commitment to community collaboration, empowerment, leadership and ownership. It is a series of four days group learning, online networking and peer-support, underpinned by three group-based events.
This is an exciting new opportunity for senior practitioners working in the community sector. Up to 25 places are offered in the inaugural programme. Applicants should already be involved in a community project or have one in development and be Auckland based.
Key objectives
- To support the continuing professional development of senior arts practitioners
- To facilitate creative and professional development opportunities for community artists
- To foster dialogue and exchange between participants, educators and the community at large
- To foster collaborative practice and processes
- To establish an online community that role models best practice in this discipline
Schedule of the Programme
The Connections Community Cultural Development Programme will take place between October 2010 and February 2011 with a proposed schedule as follows:
- Introductory event (Oct 2010)
- Two-day workshop (7-8 Nov 2010)
- Interim event (tba)
- Two-day workshop (16-17 Feb 2011)
- Wrap-up event (Feb 2011)
To ensure a good fit between the artist/creative practitioner and the Community Cultural Development Programme, an Expression of interest must be submitted.
Expression of Interest
Artists applying for the programme should address the following:
- Summarise your current established practice in community cultural development
- State the outcome from one of the projects that truly excited you and affected change within the community or with your practice
- What you would like to achieve as a result of completing this programme
HOW TO APPLY
Please submit the following in your application:
- Your Expression of Interest, which addresses the three questions outlined above
- Your summary resume (strictly no more than ONE page) of you as an artist / creative practitioner
Please ensure that:
• The application is emailed as a PDF document
• Your name appears on all pages of the application
• All support material is clearly labelled
SELECTION CRITERIA
Selection criteria include:
- The level of engagement and interactivity developed with a specific community or communities
- A demonstrated willingness to work collaboratively
- The anticipated benefits to the community
KEY DATES
All applications must be received by 5pm, Saturday 4 September 2010.
Applicants will be notified by email of the outcome of their application by Tuesday 14 September 2010.
