Communications Internship
SCANZ 2011: Eco sapiens is an art, culture, technology and ecology event which occurs bi-annually in New Plymouth and is organised by Intercreate. A position for a keen Communications trainee is available at Intercreate.org. This could be extended to a team of two for the right pair.
The job is unpaid, though it will provide the experience and understanding of working in the creative crossover areas between the arts, science, culture, and technology. As an ongoing bi-annual event that has developed an international standing, skill development and networking opportunities exist for those interested in curatorial, arts administration, online design, publishing, communication or marketing careers.
As part of a friendly team, you will be assisting Intercreate’s Programme Director, and working with an experienced Art Designer and Copy Writer to redevelop and manage the content for the organisation’s website. The site both documents and promotes the creative projects and public events such as the symposium. Hence the work will involve co-developing and delivering a strategy plan for how these events are communicated online prior, during and after the events. The intern/s will need to work with event participants such as artists and scientists to ensure that we have updated project texts for the promotion/discussion of their work. Interns will be encouraged to take a journalistic role also and organise interviews, etc. The ability to deliver content using online publishing tools, and engage with social media communications for the event is essential. The position will involve a commitment of 8hrs per week for a period of 5 months, with weekly work-in progress meetings. The site is currently in a proprietary publishing platform, but it is planned to move it to wordpress.
