Job description: 

The Auckland War Memorial Museum is entering an exciting new era in terms of defining its future vision and strategy.

This role will be responsible for leading and developing the Museum’s collection and library, and promoting leadership in influential research and collections management.
 
It will be imperative to build strong relationships across the Museum and work as an effective executive team member in contributing to the overall development of a culture of excellence and professionalism.

Proven capability in developing sound collection management strategy and planning experience along with expertise and results in developing groundbreaking research programmes is essential.
 
Effective leadership of large teams (40 – 45 people), combined with analytical, problem solving and financial analysis skills and outstanding academic results are required for this role. Museum experience or similar is likely, however a research background and exposure to collections management in a broader sense would also be considered
