Festival Assistant
Provide a range of support for the Lantern Festival event organiser and the team. If you are a dynamic individual with a natural affinity with people, our passionate and dedicated Festival and community events team want you! Your busy and exciting day will include a mix of managing customer enquiries, database maintenance, invoicing and collating information for approx 100 stall holders, dealing with commercial site holders and attending meetings to organise all of the above. You will also recruit and coordinate approximately 50 volunteers and on-site event crew acting as ushers, stage managers and information providers across the three days. Due to the nature of the Lantern Festival, your flexibility to work weekends and some evening work is vital. The role is fulltime (40 hours a week) from October 2010 to April 2011. Apply today!
The Lantern Festival is one of the most beautiful festivals of the summer, attracting around 180,000 visitors over the three days. A huge range of stallholders participate, providing food, fortune telling, crafts and more.
You'll have a strong customer service background (gained ideally within an office environment) complemented by an understanding of Chinese and Asian communities. Experience with the management of large events is also required. Calm under pressure, you've mastered multi-tasking and have a proactive approach with loads of initiative. Team focused, with exceptional communication skills, you also have financial capabilities. Intermediate MS Office skills and database experience is essential (Pathway experience would be ideal). An understanding of the process for licensing of temporary foods stalls at events will also be required.
