Collection Care Summer Internship

Hands on experience working with a wide array of artefacts, cataloguing, documenting, caring for collections, researching & preparing basic displays.

 All training provided for these unpaid positions. A 26 day commitment is required, we are  accepting interest now for the November 2010 - Feb 2011 period.

The Howick Historical Village Museum Internship will supplement your academic experience and help you decide what type of work you want to do in the heritage/arts sector.

What do we need from you? Reliablity, ability to follow direction, initative, not afraid to get your hands dirty, some physical work at times and above all professionalism.

Police/reference checks are done on all applicants. Applications for the summer period close 19th November.

We will also be offering Front of House costumed guiding internships during the summer period.

    Howick Historical Village

    Howick Historical Village is an open air museum with 30 heritage buildings furnished with decor and displays highlighting the fencible period of 1840-1880. Costumed villagers are present on Live Days (every third Sunday of the month) and engage in Victorian crafts and pastimes.
    Museum staff care for the artefacts which have been donated by the community and range from fabulous Victorian clothing, to military campaign desks with a focus on authentic domestic items. An archive, library and art collection can be researched by appointment. www.fencible.org.nz
    Heritage gardens, chickens and rabbits make the village an beautiful relaxing family outing.
