Museum Intern
Here is a chance to live in 1850 Auckland....to wear Victorian era costume from our wardrobe, research, learn and demonstrate forgotten crafts and domestic acitivities to the public.
We are looking for outgoing people to help bring the Howick Historical Village to life over summer.
You might have a theatrical background or just be comfortable talking to strangers, you will be energetic, friendly and positive.
Training in museum interpretation is part of this unpaid position. Summer internships require a commitment of 26 days over the November 2010 to Feburary 2011 period. you will have flexibilty of days and start times.

- Howick Historical Village
Howick Historical Village is an open air museum with 30 heritage buildings furnished with decor and displays highlighting the fencible period of 1840-1880. Costumed villagers are present on Live Days (every third Sunday of the month) and engage in Victorian crafts and pastimes.
Museum staff care for the artefacts which have been donated by the community and range from fabulous Victorian clothing, to military campaign desks with a focus on authentic domestic items. An archive, library and art collection can be researched by appointment. www.fencible.org.nz
Heritage gardens, chickens and rabbits make the village an beautiful relaxing family outing.
