The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institute operational worldwide. With 149 branches in 92 countries, we support the teaching and learning of the German language, as well as promoting cultural exchange between Germany and New Zealand.

The Goethe-Institut is looking for a Programme Coordinator.  Ideally an experienced festival worker who thrives in a high pressure environment. Language requirements are: German C 2 Level or similar, English excellent oral and writing and basic Maori Language Knowledge.

As a key player within the Goethe-Institut team you will work in support of our director and with the wider Goethe-Institut-Team, where appropriate, to help realise a successful 2011 and 2012 Cultural Programme.

Strong administration, excellent written and oral communication in both German and English language, planning and budgeting skills are required for this exceptionally busy role.  A very important aspect is the ability to coordinate a huge diversity of information and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail. A fundamental knowledge of current German trends especially in Theatre/Film is essential. Understanding or experience of using SAP project management software, all Microsoft office software and a Internet Content Management Software is also required.

General duties involve:

  • Event administration
  • Budgeting support
  • Logistical planning
  • Correspondence in German and English
    Update of electronic media (Webpage, Facebook)

 Based in Wellington, this is full time fixed term contract position until 31.04.2013.  Due to the nature of the position a flexible approach to working hours is essential.

High level capabilities for the role include excellent project management and organisational skills, the ability to research and source information, and think strategically and creatively to handle responsibilities independently.
