Duty Supervisor
A most exciting and stimulating opportunity.
The Wallace Arts Trust is seeking an outstanding Duty Supervisor for the very impressive Pah Homestead, TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre.
The Pah is the home of the James Wallace Arts Trust and its Collection. This is a vibrant environment with over 11,000 visitors monthly. The overwhelming response has been engendered by a number of factors, regular changes of exhibitions mainly from the Trust Collection of contemporary New Zealand art, the beautifully restored 1870s mansion set in a magnificent but mainly unknown Park and the very popular cafe.
Key responsibilities of the role will include being the first point of contact for all visitors to the Centre. An impeccable phone manner and presentation and an ability to provide assistance and information will be essential as will be the ability to effectively supervise our volunteers on duty.
Proficiency and experience in the arts, supervisory duties and customer service would be an advantage. Essential prerequisites would be excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills as well as being fully computer literate. The successful applicant must be adaptable and flexible as well as being able to cope with a range of other day to day and occasional duties.
The role is 24 hours a week (6 hours a day Tuesday to Friday, 9:30 am -3:30 pm). While hours will amount to 24 hours a week there will be a degree of rostering with other staff and volunteers so the successful applicant’s availability must be elastic.
Proficiency and experience in the arts, supervisory duties and customer service.

- TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre
The TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre is Auckland’s exciting new cultural destination. Located in the historic Pah Homestead in Monte Cecilia Park, Hillsborough, the arts centre opened to the public in August 2010.
Pah Homestead was fully restored by the Auckland City Council together with the generous support of TSB Bank from 2009 to 2010 as the new home of the James Wallace Arts Trust and its collection.
The arts centre hosts a changing programme of free exhibitions curated from the James Wallace Arts Trust collection as well as regional touring exhibitions. The arts centre will also run ongoing community education programmes targeting Auckland schools and the wider public.
An artist in residency programme in association with Otago University is an important component of the arts centre. This partnership also provides for exhibitions curated from the extensive collections of the Hocken Library.
Many thanks to the Auckland Decorative and Fine Arts Society and its members who provide ongoing support to the centre through the provision of volunteer docents.
