An opportunity has arisen at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts to be part of a highly professional team dedicated to supporting the arts and artists. Founded in 1882 the Academy is committed to the promotion, creation, understanding and enjoyment of the visual arts.

The Gallery Coordinator will assist the Academy Director with the day to day management of the galleries with a primary focus on the sale of artworks.

Responsibilities include the management of front desk staff, selection and display of works for sale in Gallery One and managing of public enquiries relating to exhibitions, gallery hire and works for sale.

Tasks will include recruitment and training of Academy volunteers, overseeing of installations, removal of exhibitions, handling, security, cleaning and maintenance of artworks.

Person Profile:

Previous retail or sales experience
Excellent communication skills
A strong commitment to customer service
Expert eye for detail and high degree of accuracy
Ability to problem solve, display sound judgement and show initiative
Artistic flair with a good understanding of the visual arts
Staff management experience would be advantageous.

Working arrangements are flexible, however you will be required to work 24 hours per week between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday. Flexibility to work outside of these hours preferred with the possibility to grow the position.
