General Manager
Massive Company creates bold, inspiring and heartfelt theatre. Whether creating a devised work or a scripted play, all of Massive’s work begins with the stories and experiences of those involved. This results in work that is personal and relevant for the company and the audience.
Working alongside the founder and Artistic Director, the successful candidate will provide strategic and operational leadership for the organisation, ensuring on-going financial stability and creating an environment in which the company’s artistic remit can flourish. The General Manager will report directly to the Board and work closely with the Artistic Director, in addition to line managing an assistant producer. The General Manager will hold overall accountability for the financial and operational success of the organisation.

- You will have passion for the work of Massive Company, and the enthusiasm to engage with the company at every level.
- You will have a passion and understanding for Theatre in general.
- You will have excellent time management skills, be used to taking initiative and be self motivated and enthusiastic.
- You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
- You will have proven financial management skills, and a knowledge of arts funding and philanthropy in New Zealand.
- You will have experience of managing staff and working in high performing teams
- You will have the ability to work to tight deadlines, and the motivation to deliver results, on time and beyond expectations
- You will be clear thinking, organised and have an excellent eye for detail
- You will enjoy collaboration, and thrive on working as part of a small, dedicated team.
- You will work well under pressure and enjoy showing patience and good humour in doing so
- You will have the desire to learn about the work of Massive Company by taking an active part in the life of the company
- You will have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- You will have some previous experience of working in a theatre environment and an understanding of theatre production process
