General Manager
The Vector Wellington Orchestra is looking for a General Manager who is passionate about music and the arts, and has the managerial expertise to continue to build and secure a solid future for the Orchestra.
Each year, we play for more than 100,000 people in Wellington and the wider central region of New Zealand through orchestral concerts and support for arts organisations including the Royal New Zealand Ballet, NBR New Zealand Opera and the Orpheus Choir. We are known for our high quality performances and innovative programming.
As the ideal candidate, you are a hands-on leader, responsible for managing all aspects of the Orchestra’s day-to-day operations and working closely with the Music Director to develop an exciting annual programme of concerts. You will ensure:
• Performances are successfully promoted and meet our standards of excellence
• The Orchestra’s resources (capital, financial and people) and administrative processes are well managed.
You are a leader with proven experience in developing and implementing business plans. Flexibility, and leading a small core team and large group of players in a challenging environment, are key success factors. Experience in sponsorship and fundraising is essential. You must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
The NZ orchestral sector is currently under review. The role of the General Manager will be pivotal for the Orchestra in managing this process where stakeholder management skills will be critical.
