SAMOAN LANGUAGE PROGRAMME PRODUCER

The Pacific Media Network (PMN), based in Ponsonby, is Aotearoa’s Pan-Pacific national broadcasting network. We deliver relevant, high quality Pan Pacific broadcasting services to, for and about Pacific people consistent with our vision of “Celebrating the Pacific Spirit”. Our programmes are broadcast in English and Pacific languages.

PMN emerged out of the successful merger of Niu FM and 531pi in 2007 and we now have nine integrated language teams.

We are seeking candidates for the role of producer of the Samoan programme to produce quality language programmes consistent with the values and objectives of the National Pacific Radio Trust, and to provide leadership, assistance, training and support to language team members. A tertiary qualification in radio broadcasting is preferred; along with 5 years producing/announcing experience in a radio broadcasting environment.

Other criteria include:

Fluent in both English and Samoan
Good communication skills
Experience in broadcasting, preferably within a Pacific radio environment
Well organised
Sound Knowledge of NZ & Pacific libel, defamation, privacy and copyright laws
Supervisory experience with effective leadership skills
Extensive and effective networks within the Samoan and wider Pacific communities
A passion for Pacific broadcasting
