Mentors needed for Inspiring Stories Project
Are you interested in supporting young Kiwis to harness the power of storytelling for a better world?
We believe anyone can make a difference – and when empowered with the right tools, support, and inspiration, that difference can be massive. The Inspiring Stories Project is a brand new nationwide initiative that aims to spark a series of inspirational short films by connecting young filmmakers, young changemakers, and creative industry professionals. Through a series of two-day intensive workshops in every region we help energetic youngsters (13-26) develop core skills in storytelling & documentary filmmaking, and help them kick-start a 2-4 minute film about a young changemaker in their community. Participants then go beyond the workshop to produce their short films over an 8-week period.
Having held successful workshops now in Nelson, Greymouth, Wanaka, Dunedin, and Christchurch, we're looking for support especially around the North Island as we convene workshops from May–July. If you've got creative industry experience, and are interested in attending your regional workshop, and provide casual mentoring support for the young filmmakers as throughout their 8-week short film production process, we'd love to hear from you!
All films will go on to be showcased at the Inspiring Stories Film Festival later in the year, and shared throughout schools and communities throughout New Zealand.
The ability to relate & work with young people; and creative industry experience such as filmmaking, photography, design, journalism, etc
