Radio Series Production Assistant
Production assistant required to research and coordinate a five part online radio series. The shows will be a mixture of interviews and songs, each based on a person’s life and experiences. The assistant will work closely with the host Sian Jaquet and Jam Radio, (where the series will be recorded and edited).
Sian Jaquet currently works as a professional life designer - a culmination of her wealth of experience gathered across the world. She has worked in the media (such as theatre, writing and TV work), public speaking, teaching, and social work. Now Sian is bringing her passion for helping others and exploring people’s lives into the realms of radio with this five part series.
Some of the core duties of the role are as follows:
• Find interesting people to base each programme around. (Sian will work alongside you on this.)
• Research links with local organisations.
• Make initial contact with suggested talent, and provide a background on what their specific story is.
• Source the five pieces of music that have been chosen for each show.
• Coordinating the studio time, and technical production.
• Develop in collaboration with Sian, Jam Radio, and another publicist, a publicity strategy for the show to include local newspapers, etc.
Sound editing skills would be an advantage, but this can also be undertaken by Jam Radio, or training in editing given.
This position is for a volunteer worker, so the hours can be arranged around what suits the successful applicant best. The role will be varied and interesting, with lots of scope for creative input. You will be credited as a producer for the work and can use the show to promote your skills.
