Job description: 

The position of Sous Chef will assume responsibility for the development and production of menu items in accordance with the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef in conjunction with kitchen standards, and codes of practice.

This position reports to the Executive Chef, you will assist in the overall day-to-day design, development and delivery of all menus for the department including special events, promotions and other one-off occasions.

To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • A high level of cooking experience and knowledge;
  • An ability to work under pressure;
  • The ability to think laterally and to make sound informed decisions;
  • Sound budgeting and cost controls to achieve agreed outcomes.
  • Strong organisation skills and ability to prioritise work according to agreed targets;
  • An awareness of all current legislation regarding hygiene and safe working conditions.

It is a requirement that you must be a New Zealand citizen or resident to be considered for this role.
