Performers and sponsors for fundraising event

Job description: 

I have volunteered to host a fundraising event for the "Eat So They Can" campaign, organized each year by the Global Volunteer Network - based out of Lower Hutt, Wellington.

We will be having a large event in Brooklyn, Wellington on the 17th of October, 2009. We hope to have over 100 people in attendance. The evening will include:

  • Silent Auction to raise money for schooling and food for children in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa
  • Food and drinks
  • A talk by Kate McPherson - a Wellington photographer who spent time in Ethiopia teaching children how to use cameras to capture their inner and outer world.
  • Music and dance performances

We have several Wellington-based companies and organizations who have already agreed to help sponsor this event, however we are still in need of more sponsorship!

We are still looking for the following:

  • Sponsors willing to help with food and drinks for the evening
  • Sponsors willing to donate gift vouchers and goods for the silent auction
  • Musicians willing to donate their time to perform for the evening - African drummers would be a HUGE plus!!
  • Dancers willing to perform during the evening - African dancing would be great!!
  • Volunteers who would like to help with the planning of the event - i.e. visiting local businesses for sponsorship, preparing food on the day, running the silent auction, etc.
