Anita Hutchins in 2012
DATE: Saturday 10th December
TIME: 10am till 2pm
PLACE: Paula Hunt Dance Studio
21-23 Home Street, Wellington
I am looking for two male and three female dancers/performers to workshop Ella & Will in early 2012. This will be a paid position. The two men need to look between 25 and 40 years old, there is one role for a female who looks 16 years old and two roles for females who look between 20 and 35 years old.
Scriptwriter Donna Banicevich Gera and myself have been developing the characters of Ella & Will and are looking for performers who embody and inspire the characters further. While performers may not have to speak on stage, I am looking for contemporary dancers who are confident to take on a character role or actors who are proficient in contemporary dance. It is especially preferable that male applicants can play an instrument. If male and female applicants can play an instrument then they should prepare a short musical solo to perform at the audition.
The audition will consist of a contemporary class, the performance of several choreographic phrases taught at the audition, followed by the musical demonstrations of applicants. Applicants must bring a brief CV complete with their contact details.
If you are interested in attending this audition but cannot make the appointed hour, please feel free to contact me to discuss an alternative arrangement. Please also contact me if you have any other questions about the audition or the show.
ABOUT: Ella & Will
Briefly, Ella and Will is a love story inspired by two interesting literary works by occult authors Aleister Crowley and Dion Fortune, which raises questions about the nature of occult ritual magic - is it’s only force the psychological power it has upon the believer or it is backed by real unknown energies, is it a coping mechanism, is it psychotic or is it the truth, and then do such questions become too slippery to touch? Finally, irrespective of the “truth” is a life that includes ritual magic more interesting, poetic and more desirable than one without it?
