Development Manager
Are you interested in lead the fundraising development for a dynamic new arts organisation in 2012?
The New Zealand Dance Advancement Trust, the charitable trust operating the New Zealand Dance Company, seeks high quality applicants with a minimum of 3 years’ experience for a part-time contract position as New Zealand Dance Company’s 2012 Development Manager.
The New Zealand Dance Company is a vibrant new arts company recently funded by Creative New Zealand for a two year programme of activity. Our vision is to create a sustainable, permanent, high-calibre dance company, with an Auckland home that contributes to the fabric of NZ culture and is dedicated to NZ’s finest contemporary dance practitioners.
Your primary role will be to successfully secure sponsorships, partnerships, donations and income from funding agencies to support the company programme of activity, and to help maintain the relationships with each of our sponsors, partners, donors and funders.
You will also contribute to the realisation of key elements of the company’s strategic plan -- particularly to grow the artform and grow the infrastructure for contemporary dance in Aotearoa.
You will work alongside the General Manager, Frances Turner, and the Executive/Artistic Director, Shona McCullagh, to secure sponsorships, partnerships and funding for the premiere season and tour of the New Zealand Dance Company in Auckland as well as all associated events, which may include special previews, fundraising gala and opening night events, and community and education outreach initiatives.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
- manage and deliver to the company fundraising strategy
- achieve and exceed results in line with agreed targets and KPIs
- initiate new contacts with potential funders, donors, partners and sponsors
- develop targeted proposals to develop successful and mutually beneficial partnerships and sponsorships and funding relationships
- ensure that NZDC services and maintains positive relationships with our donors, partners, sponsors and funders in a highly professional manner
- ensure marketing collateral includes and respects partner and sponsor brand values
- plan and organise hostings, complimentary tickets, and other activities that pertain to sponsorship, partnership and funding agreements
Essential skills required for the role include:
- previous experience in fundraising, with a successful track record
- demonstrated ability to meet or exceed financial targets with appropriate sources
- strong administrative and organisational skills
- excellent written and oral communications skills
- the ability to work closely with the management, artistic and other multi-disciplinary teams as required
- excellent people and management skills
- a passion for developing a new arts company
