Head of Contemporary Dance
The New Zealand School of Dance is one of the world’s leading dance conservatoires, and has spent the last 43 years delivering a programme that is both creatively stimulating and technically stringent. The School is accredited to deliver a tertiary-level Certificate and Diploma in Dance Performance, and students choose to major in either Classical Ballet or Contemporary Dance.
The Head of Contemporary Dance is responsible for:
- Coordinating and teaching the Contemporary Dance programme
- Developing curriculum and learning outcomes, and coordinating assessment events
- Managing staff
- Setting and adhering to budgets
- Maintaining and strengthening links with the contemporary dance community both nationally and internationally
- Producing NZSD’s acclaimed annual Choreographic Season
Priority will be given to candidates who have the following attributes:
- Comprehensive dance performance background
- A strong personal profile in the New Zealand and international dance world
- Strong connections in the dance world both nationally and internationally and the ability to leverage these connections
- Proven leadership and management skills
- Solid administration and organisational skills
- A post-graduate qualification (or proven commitment to pursuing further education)
