Burlesque Performer - novice
MissChief Events will be holding its annual search for new burlesque talent on Thursday June 17. We are looking for people who are new to burlesque to compete in this one-night only show in Auckland City.
You will be required to perform a solo or a duet, created by you, that is under 5 minutes. Audience members will vote for the winner, who will receive a cash prize and essential burlesque costume items from our sponsors.
Submission are accepted from newcomers who have performed burlesque before but will not be accepted from performers who have appeared in more than 3 shows. Submissions are also welcome from Boylesque performers.
For those who would like to give it a go but have little experience of burlesque, MissChief Events runs day courses in striptease and use of props, which will give you a good grounding to create an act. Go to www.misschiefevents.co.nz/burlesque-classes, for more details.
This competiton is not suitable for performers of Neo-Burlesque or Cabaret performers. It is expected that you perform classic burlesque (such as that done by Dita Von Teese), and you strip to pasties and undies.
