Volunteers Wanted
Calling all volunteers!
Registrations are well underway and organisers of a prestigious dance festival are looking for a team of enthusiastic volunteers to help run their 4-day event – held in Dunedin for the first time.
The dance profession will be under the spotlight at a national festival hosted this year by the University of Otago’s Physical Education department and College of Education from Wednesday 30 June to Saturday 3 July.
The 2010 Tertiary Dance Festival, entitled Dance Blogs - Kupenga O Te Kanikani, will bring together a concentrate of New Zealand students, dancers, creative innovators and leaders in dance to share skills, network and celebrate their art form.
The festival offers an intensive programme of practical master classes, workshops, open classes, forums and a varied performance programme. There will be daily sessions in technique, from beginner through to professional levels, and a wide variety of workshops that include choreography, teaching and cultural practices, dance with technology and much more.
There will be 8 dance studios running concurrently over 4 days, with lunchtime panel discussions and a diverse performance programme in the evening, which is open to the public.
There are lots of ways volunteers can help from, registrations and bookings, assisting with the dance studios, showing participants how to get to venues, front of house and other tasks. Being involved in this unique event means that you get to meet new people, learn new skills and gain insight into the fascinating world of dance.
