Call for dance/physical theatre submissions..

Dear Dance Colleague,

While the Christchurch earthquake may have put the brakes on the 2010 Body Festival, we’re definitely still dancing, and more determined than ever to create a spectacular Festival for 2011!  We have some incredible events planned for next year and we invite you to celebrate the rugby frenzy in the city that definitely knows how to “shake” its booty!

On that note we are currently seeking dance and physical theatre submissions for the 2011 Festival – both as umbrella works and presentations.  Ideally, we want proposals for a range of events from small, mid or large scale performances to a variety of community workshops.

Applicants who were accepted for the 2010 Festival (but were unable to present work due to the Festival’s cancellation) are also invited to resubmit their performances for consideration and programming. 

The Body Festival is Christchurch’s annual dance and physical theatre festival and each year we aim to host a variety of related projects during the festival period, which will run from 23 September to 9 October 2011.

As always The Body Festival will provide venue and technical support as well as generic marketing and other support where applicable in return for a box office split generously favouring the presenting artist.

To allow time for the processing of applications for our extensive 2011 programme the deadline for submissions is Monday November 8th 2010.

Please send proposals to us along with the application form (attached) and any support documentation (inc. DVD’s, tech specs, images etc) as soon as possible to the address below, but by no later than the specified deadline date.
