UI/Web Designer Freelance/PT

Small design agency requires a freelance graphic designer and/or creative developer keen to help out with our expanding workload.  The suitable applicant will be a self starter and keen to get involved, learn, and perhaps inspire.   Initially, work will be negotiated on a project by project basis, and you'll need to spend some of your time working from our studio (Central Auckland).

Some commercial experience is required, as well as an ability to use initiative and work autonomously.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for Web/UI designers who understand web marketing and design, application front-end UI development, and have good visual sense.   

You may have experience in doing the following:  

• Creating front-end web design, including designing interfaces, style guides and email newsletters.

• Building and working with CMS like Joomla, WordPress/Portals/E-commerce sites/ZenCart/ or other similar online applications.

• Implementing W3C standards in browsers/cross platform deployment of sites (XHTML, CSS based layouts etc.)

• Interacting with clients, creating web templates, developing different styles of design and layout.

• Crafting a fluid and exciting user experience driven by flawless UI design.

• Providing light design skills with the ability to translate a wireframe and style guide into a production page.

• Resolving bugs and cross browser compatibility issues.

 
Skill Sets:
 

• Adobe CS

• XHTML & CSS2, especially layouts that do not use tables for layout

• Javascript (jQuery), AJAX, DHTML programming is a plus

• Cross-platform design, image optimisation, web palette and load time management.

• An understanding of typography, layout and color theory

• Good written and oral communication skills
