Full-Time Web Designer Junior – Intermediate

Gravitate Limited is an established web design / development company based in the George Courts building on K’ Road, Auckland. We pride ourselves on being able to balance excellent design with technical innovation and software development. We offer a good learning environment for a junior to intermediate level web designer to develop their design skills whilst working on a variety of interesting projects. Our clients come from a wide range of industries from the arts and design through to the legal and automotive sectors. The position will involve working alongside our head designer as part of a small innovative and creative website development team. This position is paid by salary, to be agreed with the successful applicant based on experience and training. Please note we require someone who can work in the office with us on a full-time basis, we are not looking for freelancers at present.

Required Skills for a successful applicant:

• HTML experience (with full understanding of CSS for page layouts) is essential
• Knowledge and understanding of Web Standards (W3C and Accessibility Guidelines)
• Natural creative talent - a good eye for design layouts and use of typography and colour (a portfolio or links to your work will be required)
• Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (in particular Photoshop and Dreamweaver)
• Someone who is keen to learn and expand their skill base
• Good communication skills in order to liaise with clients and the team

Useful Additional Skills:

• Understanding of Flash would be an advantage
• Some understanding of PHP would be an advantage
