Job description:

Smales Farm has launched a $35,000 public art competition to select a New Zealand artist to create a permanent sculpture or installation depicting and celebrating the history of Smales Farm as a transport hub on the North Shore.

Smales Farm Station is located on the corner of Northcote and Taharoto Roads on Auckland’s North Shore. The site - previously known as Smales Corner - has a long and distinguished history as a thriving transport hub, dating back to 1898. The commissioned artist will create and install a permanent public artwork that will become an integral and enduring feature of Smales Farm Station and surrounds in the Smales Farm Technology Office Park.

Artists are invited to submit concept proposals through a public competition, for consideration by a guest curator and the Smales Farm sculpture commission selection panel. Smales Farm is especially interested in receiving proposals from emerging artists.

Concept proposal submission deadline: Monday, 14 June 2010, 5.00pm.
