Designer Direction was founded to help and support designers at any stage of their fashion career by offering support, advice, articles, interviews plus lots more. We are also a bunch of passionate, creative, fashion kids so we talk about style, trends and our creative industry friends too.

We are looking for people with a similar outlook, who have a love for fashion, the industry and want to help build something inspirational.

Our photographers have had their work for Designer Direction sought after by PR companies, event organisers, designers and major online and print media organisations. We encourage our team to further their own careers and love helping people to reach their goals.

The low-down for photographers
Designer Direction is looking for photographers with a keen interest in fashion and event photography.  The assignments will involve teaming up with one of our journalists and to attend various fashion events, interviews, launches, shows etc.  As a photographer, your role is uber important in offering a visual story to accompany the article that our writers pen.

The scope of photography includes;

• Runway shows of fashion design competitions & awards ie ANZFW, Pasifika, Cult Couture, Newmarket Young Designer Awards etc
• Runway shows of fashion school end of year shows, mid-year & specialty shows
• Fashion design collection & label launches, parties and shows
• Fashion industry specialty events, prizegivings etc
• Designer & Industry Interviewees + MORE

Sounds great, what are the perks?

1. Fattening up your portfolio with articles and photography from the fashion industry
2. You will attend fashion events and other industry gigs on our behalf and for free
3. Exposure of your talent through Designer Direction to help build your credentials in the industry

What parts of the world do you need photographers?
Things are moving really fast and we need to keep up so are looking for people that fit into any of the following;

• In New Zealand we are especially interested in those situated in or available to travel to;
  The South Island – Invercargill, Christchurch
  Bay of Plenty - Tauranga
  Central Hawkes Bay - Napier
  Waikato - Hamilton
• In Australia if you live in the following cities;
  Sydney
  Melbourne
  Perth

I don’t have much experience though, can I still apply?
We seek photographers with an avid interest in the fashion industry and who may or may not have experience in runway, event or fashion photography.  If you have always wanted to get into this line of photography and have the right ‘eye’ for our asignments then please do drop us a line!

What equipment do our photographers need?
We don’t have any professional photography equipment or access to editing suites or programs so you must have your own.

*Please note: All photographic works will remain the property of the photographer, ie you however you must be willing to allow Designer Direction full rights to reprint any photography taken by you while on a Designer Direction assignment, at no cost. This includes publishing/printing images on all of our channels, social networking sites and our other affiliate websites.
