PHP web developer

We are seeking a PHP web developer to join our Wellington-based web development team. The role will include liaising with clients, identifying website requirements, and planning and implementing web solutions.

The ideal candidate will have 2 - 3 years experience in web development, specifically in a Linux/Apache hosted environment using MySQL and PHP, and ideally a relevant tertiary qualification.

The successful applicant will be responsible and friendly, have good communication skills, be highly motivated and show initiative. A natural aptitude and interest in technology is desirable.

Required skills:

                • Excellent knowledge of PHP 5

                • Excellent knowledge of Object Oriented design concepts

                • Excellent knowledge of MySQL 5

                • Excellent knowledge of JavaScript

                • Linux knowledge, preferably Debian - Apache, Cron, SSH, etc.

                • Experience developing efficient, well-structured web-based applications

                • Ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to clients in easy-to-understand language

                • Ability to maintain good coding and documentation practices

Beneficial skills:

                • Adobe Flash development - mostly writing ActionScript

                • Version control (SVN)

                • Familiarity with graphics applications such as Photoshop and Illustrator

                • Good foot-eye co-ordination for hacky sack

                • Basic knowledge of the Gopher protocol

                • Think IE is evil
