MERCHANDISE MANAGER POSITION PROFILE

Responsible for coordinating the production and sales of all Festival Merchandise

Key Relationships: Festival Manager, Marketing Manager, Designated Volunteers

Key Tasks:

l        Develop a merchandise plan in consultation with the Marketing Manager

l        To develop a timeline and action plan for the production of merchandise, in consultation with the Marketing Manager

l        To work to a budget provided by the Festival Manager

l        To ensure the timely production of Festival merchandise

l        To explore and exploit avenues for merchandise sales before and during the Festival period

l        Liaise with Volunteer  Coordinator to set up a team of volunteers to help sales of merchandise during the Festival period

l        Responsible for float count in and daily reconciliations for all merchandise stands

l        Keep records of merchandise sales and distribution as required

l        Submit all documentation, sales and distribution records and all unused merchandise to the Festival Office at the end of the Festival period

l        Produce a report about the position and the tasks involved, summary of the results, any difficulties, evaluation of the methods used, a review of the position and recommendations for the future and deliver this report to Festival Manager no later than Wednesday 7 April 2010

l        Strong sales skills

l        Ability to write cash reconciliations

l        Ability to remain calm under pressure

Qualifications: Previous experience in retail sales would be an advantage

Notes: This position is paid from commissions.  The successful applicant will be directing a small team of volunteers. The festival dates are 25 to 28 March. The advertised time frame includes time required for festival team meetings and briefings and opportunities to sell festival merchandise at promotional events prior to the festival.
