To produce a documentary about Musicircus and to sell it to a Broadcaster

Musicircus is an unusual sound and social experience aims to gather in the same place the largest amount of different musicians to perform simultaneously anything or in any way they desire during two hours.

Musicircus has been set in several cities around the world, including recent versions at Tate Modern in 2006, Melbourne International Art Festival in 2007, and Santiago de Chile during 2008, the latter convened more than 120 musicians from a wide range of social and cultural spectrum.

The first one happened in 1967 at University of Illinois produced by the composer John Cage, worldwide known for his works for Prepared Piano, the piece 4’ 33’’ (of silence), and his revolutionary thoughts about the essence of music, as it were any “disciplined action” which sounds (or not).
The main aim of The Wellington Musicircus is to set under the same roof the widest range of world music available in the city along the most diverse samples of western performers, so that it becomes in a sort of a world music fair.

Beyond this unimagined music of musics, Musicircus opens the possibility for either musicians and audience to strengthen cultural bonds, to see how diverse our cultural background could be, and above all, to hear new possibilities to make music.

Director Jaime Cortes has been involved professionally with arts since 2000. He has a Bachelor in Arts and a Masters in Documentary Film Making. He is currently finishing The Rabble, a medium length documentary founded by the Chilean Film Commission, which shows the process to set up Musicircus in Chile.
