Description

Working with the Marketing & Development Manager, the Marketing Executive will help undertake the marketing for Auckland Arts Festival 2011 (which takes place 2 to 20 March) including the development and implementation of individual event marketing campaigns.

 Position: Marketing Executive (fixed term)

Reporting to: Marketing & Development Manager 

Description

Working with the Marketing & Development Manager, the Marketing Executive will help undertake the marketing for Auckland Arts Festival 2011 (which takes place 2 to 20 March) including the development and implementation of individual event marketing campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with the Marketing & Development Manager to develop and implement an overall marketing strategy for promotion of festival events. This shall include some national initiatives alongside a local / regional campaign.

• Provide full budget breakdowns for individual marketing campaigns and work closely with the Marketing & Development Manager to ensure all work is completed within agreed budgets.

• Assist the Publications Editor where required with the compilation of the Programme Brochure including sourcing key messages, venue and booking details.

• Work with Marketing & Development Manager to negotiate with and manage media partners in order to maximise budget and exposure.

• Oversee the design, production and distribution of event collateral.

• Purchase, produce and place advertising.

• Manage the ad schedule execution.

• Manage Direct Mail campaigns.

• Liaise with the Publicist to ensure a consistent approach to copy and maximise opportunities with all partners.

• Work with the Publicist to develop competitions & promotions with key media.

• Liaise with the Sponsorship Executive to ensure all necessary sign offs are received by set deadlines.

• Work with the Sponsorship Executive to ensure sponsors’ and funders’ benefits are met effectively.

• Arrange supplier comps and assist with corporate hosting where required.

• Provide support to the Ticketing Manager to leverage marketing opportunities with ticketing agencies.

• Work with the Marketing & Communications Assistant and the website agency to ensure they have all information necessary to build site, including all copy, images, relevant links etc.

• Work with other staff to ensure all Friends of the Festival and patron benefits are delivered and assist with the development of an e-newsletter campaign for distribution to Friends.

• Assist with the preparation of Festival e-newsletters.

• Other duties as required.

Financial

• Maintain an accurate account of budget expenditure and income, invoiced and paid.

Reporting

• Attend meetings when and as required.

• Provide a post-event report including:

­ Electronic and physical archive of all collateral produced

­ Summary of campaign including analysis of successes and key learnings

­ Full budget analyses (budget vs actual)

Competencies

 • Minimum two years’ experience in arts marketing or similar

• Proven copy writing experience

• Experience in working with designers and printers

• Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

• Demonstrated project and time management skills

• Computer literate (Word, Excel, Email)

• Ability to manage a varied workload with minimal or no supervision and to deadlines

• Knowledge of the performing arts

• Knowledge of ticketing agencies and their marketing functions.

 

Term

 This is a fixed term position, commencing 20 October 2010 and concluding on 20 March 2011.

 Hours of Work

Normal hours of work are 40 hours per week. Additional hours will be required at times.
