The New Zealand International Arts Festival (NZIAF) is a biennial multi-arts festival held in Wellington.  It is New Zealand’s largest cultural event celebrating the very best arts entertainment from around the world and within New Zealand.

The Festival is looking for an experienced Senior Producer who has overall responsibility for producing all events associated with the NZIAF including the Lexus Song Quest and the Wellington Jazz Festival.  You will be part of the Senior Management Team and work closely with the Executive Director and Artistic Director to understand the vision for the Festival and support the development of programmes.

Strong leadership and negotiation skills will be required to coordinate the Festival producing and programming team.  This position is responsible for overall management of:

  • All artist logistics (Artist Management System)
  • Education & Community Programme
  • Writers and Readers Programme
  • All Festival events / productions in consultation with other departments
  • Event budgets and monitoring
  • Programme research
  • Negotiation of contracts and performance rights
  • Maori Liaison
  • The Lexus Song Quest
  • Wellington Jazz Festival programme operations

Based in Wellington, this exciting position would suit someone who enjoys working in a high pressure environment, initially as part of a small team which will grow significantly during the Festival.  Due to the nature of the Festival a flexible approach to working hours is essential.

High level capabilities for the role include commercial experience and knowledge, industry wide contacts as well as financial, staff and project management experience.
