The Auckland Arts Festival needs volunteers!
A huge hit in 2009’s Festival, Family Day is the transformation of Aotea Square into a kid’s carnival of theatre, music, art and crafts and storytelling. We need people with a passion for the arts and a zeal for working with children to help us make this happen.
You could be part of a team aiding celebrated artist John Reynolds in his latest performance installation; kids are encouraged to tell the world what matters to them by painting on banners then marching and chanting their way through the Aotea Square. Or you could engage in something a little quieter, and help kids create a beautiful dragon puppet from household materials which they can enter in a competition to win their own Vietnamese Water Puppet. These are just a few of the possibilities of the way you could spend your day.
This is an opportunity to work on the biggest arts event in Auckland’s calendar, and to connect with the transforming arts community of our Supercity.
Family Day happens on Sunday the 13 of March from 10am to 4pm. You may also be required for some preparation in the lead up to this event. To apply, fill out the expression of interest form and email it with your CV to workshops@aucklandfestival.co.nz

- Auckland Arts Festival
The 2013 Auckland Arts Festival (6-24 March) will be Auckland's sixth Arts Festival, a biennial event that has become a firmly established part of the Australasian and International arts and cultural calendar. The Festival will again present outstanding work from many of New Zealand's foremost artists, and international work never before seen in this country, across theatre, music, dance and the visual arts. There is also an array of free events for the whole family to enjoy .
Over the past five festivals, the Auckland Arts Festival has built a reputation for presenting top quality work from around the world, which would otherwise not be seen in Auckland. Highlights include the marvellous 2011 Smoke and Mirrors cabaret show and the unique Manganiyar Seduction from the deserts of India. 2007 display from pyrotechnic artists Group F, the 2009 theatrical masterworks by Japanese company Ishinha, and the legendary Robert Lepage's company Ex Machina, sell-out cabaret sensations La Clique in both 2007 and 2009, and many more.
