Assistant Accountant
The New Zealand International Arts Festival is looking for a great payroll and accounts payable person to join the team for the 2012 Festival.
Supported by the Finance & Business Manager, the Assistant Accountant is a key role in the Festival’s Finance team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced finance all rounder to showcase their skills – and contribute to the success of a critical function within a dynamic organisation.
The New Zealand International Arts Festival is a biennial multi-arts festival held in Wellington. It is New Zealand's premier cultural event and celebrates the very best arts entertainment from around the world and within New Zealand.
Key Competencies
- Payroll experience and a comprehensive working knowledge of relevant legislation
- A strong disposition for systems and processes, and outstanding attention to detail
- Experience in complex accounts payable and purchase orders
- Thorough understanding of New Zealand GST requirements
- Great organisational and administrative abilities to manage multiple tasks to conflicting deadlines
- Maturity and ability to work under pressure with constant interruptions
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to problem solve
- MYOB EXO experience would be advantageous
- Intermediate/advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
A proactive liaison position, you will work with key Festival staff to ensure an understanding of and adherence to finance systems and processes and assist with interpretation of relevant reports.
Based in Wellington, this position sits within a small core team which will grow significantly during the Festival. Due to the nature of the Festival a flexible approach to working hours is essential, with additional support for this role from the Finance Assistant at peak times.
A fixed-term contract from August 2011 to May 2012, this is a great contract position to see you through well into the New Year.

Experienced finance all rounder to handle payroll, accounts payable, GST, manage all financial systems & processes. intermediate/advanced Microsoft Excel and Word, MYOB EXO advantageous.
