Actor / Actress wanted for short film

A post-grad student short, scheduled to shoot over September 18-21.

The story concerns Alex, a young director who has just completed a film inspired by his relationship with Laura, who he is no longer with. Alex's film is littered with nostalgic exaggeration and romantic idealism; he wants to give their romance another go and his work reflects his selectively positive recollection of their time together. Laura is torn between a temptation to give their relationship another shot and the knowledge that things weren't always as rosy as they were depicted in Alex's film.

The short weaves together Alex's semi-fictional account of their romance (playing himself), a screening of the film attended by Laura and, in the wake of the screening, efforts by a discerning bootlegger attempting to pirate the film to track Alex and Laura down in order to shoot a more truthful ending. Like Alex's film, the story shifts between comedy and drama, realism and surrealism.

Looking to cast:

Alex (early-mid 20s). The quintissential awkward romantic when he meets Laura's surrogate character at the beginning of his own film; more mature and confident in the wake of their relationship but ultimately hung up to an unhealthy degree on an idealistic view of their time together.

Laura (early-mid 20s). Like her counterpart in Alex's film, Laura is a walking contradiction - now torn between a desire to try things with Alex again and a more cynical but perhaps more realistic recollection of why things didn't work out the first time.

Expenses will be covered, food provided, and actors will receive a copy of the film for their showreel.
