Organisation/person name:
Monica De Alwis
Work type:
Temporary: Part-Time
Work classification:
Music
Job description:

A small and dedicated team is looking for the right person/people to come on board in late October or November, to work with a Director and Editor on creating a unique and interesting score for a feature length documentary. The film is to be completed this year, with intention to enter International Festival competitions in 2010.  The subject matter is dynamic, engaging and topical with local and international relevance. It draws from a rich and exciting hybrid of socio-cultural influences, offering scope for experimentation with sound elements. It has received positive feedback from industry professionals through the cut’s progress and has also secured the interest and support from a leading NZ post facility for sponsorship of sound and picture finishing. The film has thus far been a labour of love and has gained great support from people who believe in what we are doing. As we are independent and unfunded, full rates are not available however a very small fee can be provided relative to experience, skill and availability. Ideally we are looking for someone who is in a position where they can work with these limitations.

The ideal person for the job will have experience, patience, good communication skills, ability to collaborate and a keen knowledge and interest in moving image and the documentary form. In these crucial phases of post production, the role requires someone with sensitivity to pacing, emotional literacy, talent, innovation and a willingness to experiment.  Ideally you would have access to your own musicians, recording and engineering facilities. However, the filmmakers have connections with a range of talented local musicians, with whom contributions could be discussed if need be.

Duration of work is expected to be for a 1-2 month period dependant on a few factors, which can be discussed upon contacting the Producer. Ideal applicant would be able to commit to a series of liaisons, viewings and discussions as well as being able to work alone in a creative capacity.

Applications preferred as soon as possible before October the 17th and will be considered as received. To apply please send your CV, show reel, sample or online links to:
