Brian and Eddy Make a Movie (Student Film)

Characters: Brian, Eddy, Brad Schmidt, and Security Guard

Location: Auckland, New Zealand

Payment details: No pay, will cover expenses

Film Length: 6 minutes

Shooting schedule: Saturday 10 October-Monday 12 October (Brad Schmidt role will require a half day shoot on Saturday or Sunday only)

The film is about two best friends, Brian and Eddy, making their 'dream' movie (heavy-handedly inspired by Tarantino and 70s exploitation) fuelled by a love of cinema and a foolhardy knack for opportunism. Our film follows their misadventures – including stealing a handy-cam, killing their lead actor to avoid payment and incorporating the ensuing manhunt into the plot – as they try to complete their films climactic scene.

Character Synopsis:

Brian (Male)

Aged: 18-30

Brian is the self-styled auteur of his film – writer, actor and director. He is driven by an overwhelming desire to be recognized as a visionary artist. In his spontaneity and obsession he does not consider consequences.

Eddy (Male)

Aged: 18-30

Eddy is Brians admiring sidekick – a friendly and reliable character who lacks spontaneity and intelligence, qualities he finds in Brian. It is to the ever-present Eddy that Brian ultimately turns when the situation becomes unmanageable. 

Brad Schmidt

Aged: Any

A recognizable actor who is tricked by Brian into appearing in the film under the pretense it is a paid role. Once he realizes the situation Brian improvises a scene in which he is absurdly murdered, much to the surprise of Eddy. This is a cameo role that will require half a day of shooting on either Saturday or Sunday.
