Sound Designer Needed for Short Film
My name is Simon Zhou. I recently directed a short film, "BOY", about a dislocated adolescent who tries to make sense of the world after the experience of a profound trauma. It was shot on the RED camera by Chris Pryor, and I am nearing the picture lock stage in editing.
I am looking for a someone who is interested in the possibilities of sound design to articulate thematic conflicts, underscore structural beats and dramatic information, and to incite emotion. I am hoping for a collaboration in its truest sense, working closely together through the creative process by bouncing ideas, suggesting different sound scenarios, and tackling the challenges of the sound design in a way that will make full use of its dramatic and emotional potential.
Broadly, the work involves conceptualizing and executing the sound design in collaboration, recording/creating/acquiring any additional sounds/off screen dialogue/voice over required for the sound design, and putting together the final mix. I expect that it will amount to between four and seven days of work.
A huge amount of experience is not necessary, but you will need to have basic competency in all the areas required to complete the work. Imagination and a sensitivity to character and emotion is essential =)
The timeframe for completion of the film is December 3. This is an unpaid opportunity, but if you are looking for a challenge that will be creatively fulfilling, please get in touch with me as soon as possible at <zhou.tingfung@gmail.com> with your availability and a little about yourself.
