The story will be shot during November with 2 rehearsal times prior. This simple drama was written to give actors something to sink their teeth into. The production schedule is designed to develop characters and character relationships.

A New Song

After seventeen years apart, Matu finds his Brother Piripi. But they cannot confront the terrible reason for Piripi leaving. To reunite their whanau Laura risks widening the distance between the Brothers and destroying her friendship with Matu.

Synopsis

 ‘A New Song’ is a 12 minute bilingual Drama about forgiveness and the value of whanau.

 Matu Ngata is auditioning at a Stately new Maori themed Restaurant, but when he gets there he’s stunned to see two young twin girls skipping out of the entrance who are ghostly likenesses of his sister Hinemoa, who died 17 years ago.

 Laura, Matu’s close family friend goes with him to the Audition for moral support, she becomes much more than that when Matu sees the Restaurant Chef; his Brother, who ran away from home after accidently killing Hinemoa joy-riding in their parents’ car. 

 After years apart neither Matu nor Piripi can confront the situation, and Laura becomes the vital link to bring the two brothers together. But she risks losing her friendship with Matu and jeopardizing any chance of reunion in their family.

 Can the Twin Girls; Piripi’s beautiful tamariki, be the key to reuniting this broken whanau?
