Marae is looking for a Senior Researcher/ Writer to identify, develop and research ideas according to the programming brief. You will establish and maintain a diary of potential stories and interviews and secure the best talent for the programme’s story and interview content.

You will be joining a team whose aim is to set the Maori news agenda for everyone. Excellent contact networks within Maori organisations and communities as well as mainstream organisations and communities with whom Maori interact everyday is essential as is development of story angles and knowledge of the regulatory framework for Current Affairs story telling. The ability to generate stories is a priority. 

Reporting to the Producer this position demands a Senior Researcher/ Writer with qualifications in journalism and a minimum of five (5) years of experience with a television broadcaster. You must have solid knowledge or willingness to develop knowledge of tikanga Maori. Knowledge of te reo is considered a strong asset. You must demonstrate strong leadership in your field, be energetic and driven, forward thinking and able to work to deadlines, and have the ability to think outside the square.
