DP FOR DOCUMENTARY WANTED!
We are looking for an experienced DP to work on an observational style documentary project in both New Zealand and Samoa. The ideal candidate will have an excellent visual eye and experience shooting observational documentary. The project will be shot on a Sony X3 in New Zealand in October and November and Samoa in December (exact dates are still to be confirmed). You will need to be available to travel to Samoa for approximately 3 weeks, most likely in December and possibly over Christmas.
The project is a collaboration between eight film schools around the world and is being spearheaded by EICTV, a film school, in Cuba (www.eictv.org). Entitled To Be A Human Being, it will explore 8 indigenous communities and how they deal with issues surrounding sustenance, culture, love, faith, fear and hope. The intention is to make a 6 part documentary series that will screen at festivals as well as be distributed on DVD. We aim to illustrate that what we have in common is very big and what is different is very interesting. It is therefore vital that our DP has an understanding of, and sensitivity towards, working with indigenous communities.
As this is primarily a film school project there is a very limited budget and we are therefore looking for someone who shares our passion for the project and considers this their primary motivation. Travel expenses and accommodation in Samoa will be covered along with a humble additional stipend. If you are interested please visit the project’s website www.humanobeing.org.
Please send your CV, show reel and/or link to your website to the email or postal address listed below.
