5 Female actors health sector training video
This project is for HoNOS training videos. They will consist of 4 filmed vignettes, each approximately 5 minutes long, with two to four actors in each vignette.

Female actors for health sector training video
Role 1 | Jenny is in her 30’s or 40’s.
She is an experienced Mental Health Nurse, with over a decade of experience. She is often described as having a sympathetic disposition, and people tend to find it easy to talk to her.
She features in two short film vignettes as the clinician for both Dorothy and Lauren.

Role 2 | Karen is in her 30’s or 40’s.
She is a skilled crisis worker, with many years of experience. She is direct and practical with an approachable manner. She is the assigned crisis worker on the night Hemi is taken to the police station after his bizarre behaviour. The short film vignette in which Karen features is where she meets with Hemi and his parents in an interview room at the police station.

Role 3 | Lauren is a unemployed Pakeha woman, 40 years of age.
Lauren has discovered her partner Mike secretly spending money on the pokie machines, and the stress of all of this has come to dominate her life. Her doctor doesn’t know how else to help her, and so has referred her to her local Mental Health Service for counseling. This short film vignette is the first contact Lauren has had with that service, in which she tells her life situation to Jenny, the Mental Health Service clinician.

Role 4 | Aroha is a Maori woman in her 30’s.
She is married to Tane and they have 3 children. Hemi is their oldest child. She is very concerned about the recent behaviour of her son Hemi (see Hemi’s profile) and is anxious to protect her son, but doesn’t know what to do. Aroha and Tane do not know anything about Mental Health Services and they don’t know who to talk to. Her aunty thinks Hemi has a makutu on him, so she organized for him to see a Tohunga at their local marae.

Role 5 | Dorothy is a Pakeha woman, 65 years of age.
She lives with her husband Rex, whom she has been married to for 45 years. Recently Dorothy has felt that life has lost its ‘glow’. Dorothy’s GP has referred her to Jenny, a Mental Health Nurse who works at the GP centre. Dorothy is not sure why her GP (Dr Smith) suggested she meet with Jenny, but Dorothy is forthcoming with her.
This short film vignette is the first contact Dorothy has had with Jenny.
