Job description:

Every year, the Festival de Cannes Résidence welcomes 12 young filmmakers from all over the world who are working on their first or second feature film. A jury selects six candidates for each of the two four-and-a-half-month sessions per year.

Since its creation in 2000, the Résidence has welcomed more than 70 filmmakers from more than 40 different countries. It makes available to them a place of residence in the heart of Paris, a personalised programme accompanying the writing of their scripts, and a collective programme of forums with film industry professionals.

Nearly 50 filmmakers emerging from the great halls of this "Villa Médicis" of cinema have seen their films selected by international festivals and distributed in theatres. The residents equally benefit from:

• a grant of €800 per month

• free access to a large number Paris cinemas

• French lessons (optional)

• the possibility of attending festivals during their stay

The candidates are selected on the strength of the short films, or the first feature, that they have already directed as well as on their planned feature and the reasons why they wish to participate in the Residence’s programme.

Applicants must apply directly to Festival de Cannes Résidence, approaching the NZFC for financial assistance only once an acceptance letter has been received.

The next Residence session is 3 October 2011 to 15 February 2012.
