Producer/Director needed for Sweet Louise DVD

Organisation/person name:
Sweet Louise - Positive Lives with Breast Cancer
Work type:
Freelance
Work classification:
Film & TV
Job description:

Sweet Louise is an Auckland-based charitable Trust providing support and services for New Zealand women and men living with secondary breast cancer.

In 2008, Morningside Productions made a 30 minute documentary about Sweet Louise
as part of the NZ On Air funded series, Open Door. Components of the production were used to create a DVD showcasing Sweet Louise’s community support services.

The DVD has been used extensively as a powerful communications tool, demonstrating the impact Sweet Louise has in the community and highlighting the significant difference we are making in the lives of the people we help. The DVD featured our previous CEO, who passed away on 14th June 2010, and three Sweet Louise Members, one of whom passed away in late January 2011.  The DVD also features outdated statistics that are no longer representative of the organisation’s progress.

Our dream is to produce a new DVD capturing the essence of Sweet Louise and telling the stories of some of the 700+ women and men we have helped.

The ten minute DVD would focus on the reality of life with secondary breast cancer and how Sweet Louise helps its Members to live more positive lives. The DVD would feature a maximum of three interviews with Members who have consented to share their stories in perpetuity, tell the story behind Sweet Louise and explain some generic facts, outline the services we offer and describe why Sweet Louise is unique. Footage of our Members receiving services would be woven into their stories and the finished DVD would be used on our website and in presentations to enable a greater understanding of life with secondary breast cancer and the difference Sweet Louise can make.

As one of our Members said...

“The hard thing is ‘facing the cancer formally’.  I’m not used to doing that and it takes a lot out of me.  There's the positive of people living with secondary breast cancer and I want to live for a long, long time.  Thank you to everyone connected with Sweet Louise who donates their time, money and energy so I can benefit.  It is humbling and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Sweet Louise receives no government funding and relies on the support of individuals and organisations who want to make a difference within their communities.
