METONYMY signup 2011
Metonymy, a home grown success story, is now calling for participants for its 2011 season. Now in its fourth year, Metonymy started because a group of literary and visual artists in Auckland wanted to find ways of meeting and collaborating. The idea grew to include the idea of introducing artists to each other (in a ‘creative blind date’), and seeding a community.
“We find artists from different disciplines spark off each other, moving the work into new and unexpected territory,” says Metonymy organiser Christian Jensen.

- Metonymy
Metonymy is an annual event aimed at encouraging collaborations between artists and writers/poets. Each artist will be paired with a poet or writer, and over the period of one month you will work together to create a collaborative multi-disciplinary work, the best of which will feature in an exhibition as an official fringe event of the Auckland Reader's and Writer's festival. There will also be a live performance event, various networking opportunities and a publication.
